Maksymilian Kulicki is a PhD candidate at the Doctoral School of IPPT PAN and at IDEAS NCBR. His doctoral research focuses on applying artificial intelligence to forest inventory based on terrestrial LiDAR data. He is currently developing deep learning models for tree segmentation and species classification, building on the unique TreeScanPL10k dataset created at IDEAS.
His research interests include computer vision, 3D point cloud processing, and the integration of diverse data sources. Maks’s scientific dream is to create a comprehensive AI system for monitoring and supporting forest ecosystems, predicting their growth, and assessing their responses to a changing climate.
Outside of research, he enjoys mountain hiking, cooking, and practicing historical style sword fencing.
