About IDEAHACK
IDEAHACK is the first hackathon organized by IDEAS NCBR under the European Lighthouse of AI for Sustainability (ELIAS) project. This event’s mission is to create a dynamic platform where business-minded participants and scientists can connect, exchange ideas, and develop solutions that address real-world challenges, particularly in Artificial Intelligence (AI) – bridging the gap between the worlds of science and entrepreneurship.
Task
Teams will be tasked with developing a platform that facilitates the search for individuals with specific competencies, supporting contacts between representatives of research centers and business professionals.
At the heart of IDEAHACK is a spirit of sciencepreneurship. We believe that the solutions developed during this event will aid the transformation of cutting-edge research into innovative, market-ready products that drive sustainable impact.
Prize
The winning teams will receive financial prizes. We will award three teams with a total of:
- 15,000 PLN for 1st place
- 10,000 PLN for 2nd place
- 5,000 PLN for 3rd place
Participants
IDEAHACK is open to all hackathon enthusiasts, focusing on students and PhD candidates. We welcome participants passionate about AI and innovation and eager to solve real-world problems through technology. Whether you’re a coder, a designer, or a strategist, there’s a place for you at IDEAHACK.
Special requirements:
- Teams must consist of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 members.
- Each team needs to have a Team Leader.
Don’t worry if you don’t have your team. Register, and we’ll match you with one on-site.
Jury & mentors
Our jury comprises distinguished experts in AI, startups, and venture capital. They bring years of experience in their respective fields and will evaluate each project based on innovation, feasibility, and impact. In addition, most of them will also act as mentors on the first day of the competition. They will be available throughout the specific time slot to guide and support the participants, ensuring their ideas are practical and groundbreaking.
Marek Dziubiński (DeepMarket.ai, Medicalgorithmics S.A.)
Accomplished entrepreneur, scientist, and innovator. He founded DeepMarket.ai and Medicalgorithmics S.A., where he pioneered significant advancements in medical technology. With a Ph.D. in computer science, his expertise spans AI, digital signal processing (DSP), and time series analysis, particularly in financial, biomedical, and audio signals. He holds several U.S. and international patents and has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, reflecting his deep commitment to advancing AI and DSP methodologies.
Wojciech Erdmann (ff Venture Capital)
Seasoned management consultant with over 15 years of experience in digital transformation, strategy, and product management across multiple industries. He has served as a Venture Partner at ffVC and held leadership roles in startups, overseeing strategy, product development, and IT. His industry expertise spans FMCG, banking, real estate, automotive, pharmaceuticals, IT services, HR, and fitness & wellness.
Fabrice Filliez (Embassy of Switzerland in Poland)
Career diplomat. Prior to his appointment as Ambassador to the Republic of Poland, he served as Ambassador to the Republic of Singapore and the Sultanate of Brunei from 2018 to 2022. Previously, he served in Berne for five years at the Swiss State Secretariat for International Financial Matters with the title of Ambassador in charge of multilateral tax matters. At an earlier stage, he served as Head of the Economic and Finance Section of the Swiss Embassy in London. Other positions during his career included appointments at the Swiss Mission to the European Union in Brussels, at the Directorate for European Affairs in Berne and at the Directorate for Public International Law in Berne, postings where he was actively involved in various Swiss-EU negotiations.
Konrad Howard (Booksy)
Co-founder and CTO/CPO/CIO of Booksy, one of the fastest-growing international startups, with over 30 million users and 120,000 businesses globally. Booksy currently ranks as the number one lifestyle app in 11 countries. Previously, he co-founded iTaxi, Poland’s first taxi-hailing app, and the software house SensiSoft. Huffington Post USA has recognized him as the “Most Innovative Web Site Of All Time” and has won awards like the American Design Awards and Golden Drum. He has also won the International Centre of Biocybernetics competition for his work in AI and robotics. He actively supports socially impactful projects, including Smartschool and ForActive, through business angel investments.
Marcin Ledworowski (Accenture)
Marcin Ledworowski, MBA, is a digital innovator with over 25 years of experience in the financial and IT sectors. He led digital transformation at Bank Pocztowy (2020-2022), introducing Poland’s first biometric card and implementing CRM in the Azure cloud. Previously, as VP at BIK Group (2009-2020), he oversaw restructuring and business development. Co-founder of HomoDigital.pl. He lectures at WSB University and the French Institute of Management. Currently, he is a Senior Advisor at Accenture Poland, focusing on strategic consulting and digital transformation in the financial sector.
Karol Matczak (WUTIF ASI S.A.)
Investor and business angel, currently serving as the CEO of WUTIF ASI S.A., a VC fund affiliated with Warsaw University of Technology. He holds numerous international certifications in the investment sector and has led dozens of transactions across public and private markets. His expertise spans various investment activities, making him a key player in the venture capital landscape.
Tomasz Trzciński (IDEAS NCBR, Politechnika Warszawska, Tooploox)
Leading computer vision and machine learning research figure. He heads the CVLab team at Warsaw University of Technology and the Zero-Waste Machine Learning in Computer Vision group at IDEAS NCBR. He holds the title of Professor of Engineering Science and serves as the Director of the ELLIS Unit in Warsaw. He is also a co-owner of Tooploox and co-founder of Comixify, blending academic excellence with entrepreneurial ventures in the tech industry.

Q: Who can participate in IDEAHACK?

Q: How do I register?

Q: Can I participate remotely?
A: No, IDEAHACK is an on-site event only.
Q: What is the maximum team size?
A: Teams have to consist of a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 5 members. We encourage diverse teams with a mix of skills.
Q: What should I bring?
A: Bring your laptop, chargers, and any other tools you might need to develop your project. We’ll provide the rest!
Q: Is there a participation fee?
A: No, participation in IDEAHACK is free of charge.
Q: Will food and drinks be provided?
A: Yes, meals and refreshments will be provided throughout the event.
Q: Will accommodation be provided?
A: No, IDEAS NCBR does not provide accommodation. However, there will be a relaxation area in the office where you can bring a sleeping bag for a nap.
Q: Are the organizers covering travel costs for participants attending the hackathon?
A: Unfortunately, the organizers do not cover travel expenses. Participants are expected to arrange and cover their transportation to the event.
Q: How will mentoring work during the hackathon?
A: Mentors will be available to provide guidance and support on Saturday, November 16, from 3:00 PM until approximately 6:00 PM. Teams can consult them during designated hours.
Q: What are the judging criteria?
A: Projects will be evaluated based on creativity, innovation, and feasibility. Detailed criteria will be shared at the beginning of the event.
Q: Do I retain ownership of my project after the hackathon?
A: Ownership of the winning projects will be transferred to IDEAS NCBR. We aim to develop the platform further and eventually bring it to public use. More details about intellectual property can be found in IDEAHACK’s Terms and Conditions.
