It is with deep sadness that we bid farewell to Prof. Wojciech Dziembowski – the outstanding Polish astrophysicist.
His groundbreaking research on the pulsations of stars and the Sun, initiated in the 1970s, is the foundation of modern research in the field of asteroseismology and helioseismology.
Over the years, he was associated with the Warsaw University Astronomical Observatory and the M. Kopernik Astronomical Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He was a full member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and a correspondent member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 2003-2006 he served as President of Commission 35 (Stellar Constitution) of the International Astronomical Union.
Funeral ceremonies for Prof. Wojciech Dziembowski will be held on February 20, 2025, at 13:00 in the room of the Funeral Home at the Powązki Military Park in Warsaw, followed by the removal of the urn with ashes to the Powązki Stare Cemetery to the family grave (entrance through gate II), at 14:30.
We join in mourning and offer our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones.
