From 28 to 30 October, members of IDEAS NCBR Precision Forestry research team led by Krzysztof Stereńczak took part in IDA Bootcamp, a support program for companies working on dual-use technologies, initiated by the Polski Fundusz Rozwoju S.A. (PFR). IDA Bootcamp helps connect small technology companies with the end user (the Polish Armed Forces), the defense industry and investment funds.

The research team is working on a LIDAR-based navigation solution incorporating AI. LIDAR systems use laser light to measure distance in a highly accurate way, which allows to create detailed 3D maps and models.

The knowledge obtained during the meetings with industry and VC funds representatives will allow for better matching of the future product to the customer’s needs and will illustrate in which directions the team’s research should be conducted in order to fit into the dual-use market. The event also allowed for establishing contact with manufacturers of dual-use equipment.
