‘The rapid development of artificial intelligence and its increasing importance for the creative sector brings both already defined threats and opportunities. It is because of the potential of using AI in the work of our studio that we decided to join the IDEAS NCBR initiative,’ says Karol Żbikowski, Platige Image CEO.
As part of cooperation with IDEAS NCBR, Platige Image has committed, inter alia, to engage in ongoing research work, and ultimately to create a dedicated research group consisting of experts from the Polish studio.
‘I am very happy that we managed to establish cooperation with the business community so quickly, and specifically with one of the industry leaders. The scientific approach to computer graphics in Poland is dynamically developing, which creates many opportunities to conduct research projects, especially in combination with artificial intelligence. I am convinced that research with practical application will attract the attention of young ambitious specialists and encourage them to further study and develop in this fascinating field of computer science. This is a great opportunity for Polish IT specialists to expand their skills, as well as an impulse for the gaming and film sectors to create innovative solutions that will strengthen Poland’s position on the global market,’ explains Professor Przemysław Musialski, leader of a new computer graphics research group at IDEAS NCBR.
‘We are currently recruiting for my research group. Graduates of exact sciences interested in computer graphics are invited to visit the IDEAS NCBR website,’ adds prof. Musialski.
Platige Image is one of the most recognizable Polish production studios abroad. The company has cooperated with such global giants as Sony, Netflix and Ubisoft. Platige is not afraid to bet on innovation. One example of such activities is the adaptation of Unreal Engine – an engine created by one of the world leaders in the computer game production market, Epic Games. At the beginning of 2023, the Polish company, as one of the few companies in the world, received the title of Unreal Engine Authorized Service Partner, and productions made entirely with the use of Unreal Engine account for over 10% of its total revenues. The development of tools based on artificial intelligence is another goal set by the Polish studio.
IDEAS NCBR is a research and development center operating in the field of artificial intelligence, whose mission is to support its development in Poland by creating a platform connecting the academic and business environment. One of the pillars of IDEAS NCBR’s activity is building a space friendly to conducting innovative research, as well as educating a new generation of scientists focused on the practical application of the developed algorithms and their subsequent commercialization in industry, finance, medicine and other branches of the economy. The center is already conducting research in areas such as intelligent algorithms and data structures, computer vision or system security and data privacy.
