Two researchers from IDEAS NCR have been accepted into the ELLIS Society (European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems). This prestigious European association brings together experts in the field of artificial intelligence.
Established in 2018, the ELLIS Society is an organisation designed to activate the European research community focused on AI in its broadest sense. Its activities focus on three areas: basic research, doctoral and postgraduate programmes, and networking of research units. Candidates for the ELLIS Society are verified on the basis of applications documenting their achievements – scientific degree, but also the number of publications in prestigious conferences scientific conferences.
“We are extremely pleased to have joined the ELLIS Society. It is an honour to be among such eminent scientists and a great opportunity to promote Polish scientific activity. In the future, we would like to establish broader cooperation with this organisation and become a research unit of the ELLIS network. This would be a real breakthrough and an opportunity for us to be the first R&D centre in Poland to achieve this,” said dr hab. Piotr Sankowski, Professor of the University of Warsaw, CEO of IDEAS NCBR.
“ELLIS Society is an important organisation on the global AI map. Its activities counterbalance the dynamic activity of the US and Asia in the research of artificial intelligence. It is also a platform for the exchange of experience between researchers in Europe, as well as for cooperation between research units. It deals on a European scale with what we want IDEAS NCBR in Poland to deal with – talent retention and education. “We are happy to be a part of this process”
IDEAS NCBR has signed the understanding on cooperation with Center For Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Robotics at National Taiwan University, and research centre CVC Barcelona working on computer vision.
In connection with the creation of two new Scientific and Research Groups, the recruitment for the position of the Leader of the Scientific and Research Group and the position of Postdoc – Artificial Intelligence / IT is in progress.
