Dr. Marcin Waniek is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics at the University of Warsaw and a postdoc in the “AI for Security” research team at IDEAS NCBR. He has conducted research activities at New York University Abu Dhabi and Khalifa University of Science and Technology in the United Arab Emirates. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics at the University of Warsaw. His doctoral dissertation entitled. “Hiding in Social Networks” was honored with the Polish Society for Artificial Intelligence (PSSI) award for the best Polish dissertation in Artificial Intelligence in 2017. His work has been published in Nature Human Bahaviour, Scientific Reports, ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology, and AAAI, IJCAI and AAMAS conferences, among others.

His research interests include social network analysis, computational complexity, multi-agent simulations and artificial intelligence issues. His current research interests include modeling attacks on network structures and privacy threats posed by social network analysis methods.
