The research partners aim to conduct world-class fundamental and applied research together. By developing an academic and research collaboration, CWI and IDEAS strive to undertake challenging research topics with significant societal, economic, and industrial impact.

RESEARCH TOPICS

The joint laboratory will focus on research areas including AI and digital economy, with special emphasis on blockchain, smart contracts and decentralized finance, algorithmic game theory, computational social science, social network analysis, explainable AI, human-machine interaction, and energy transition.

Guido Schäfer, Senior Researcher Networks & Optimization and Management Team member at CWI says: “IDEAS NCBR is a new research and development centre in Warsaw operating in the field of AI and digital economy. Their goal is to facilitate innovative research and to educate a new generation of scientists on algorithms and their applications — which is perfectly aligned with CWI’s ambitions. The MoU between CWI and IDEAS opens up the opportunity for young scientists to exchange knowledge, extend their research skills and to collaborate on thrilling new topics using the excellent research environments at both institutes. I am confident that this MoU will lead to many fruitful collaborations between researchers from CWI and IDEAS in the coming years.”

“We are looking forward to joint research projects and academic cooperation with CWI. We believe that the more opportunities for the exchange of knowledge and international cooperation the higher chances for cutting-edge solutions based on AI. It is a great opportunity to bring closer the best experts in the field and together make a difference by working on algorithms that may improve current state-of-the-art in many fields.”
